Poverty in Ecuador is pervasive with 35% of the population (close to four million Ecuadorians) living in poverty. One and a half million Ecuadorians live in extreme poverty and cannot meet their nutritional requirements even if they spend everything they have on food. One factor contributing to poverty is a lack of education (The World Bank). Bleeding Hearts Foundation has established a relationship with an impoverished preschool in Quito, Ecuador. Proceeds from all scarf donations will be used to purchase school supplies for 40 children ages 3-6 in Ecuador. Providing school supplies will encourage these children to learn and instill hope in their futures.
Each scarf is hand woven alpaca made by local Ecuadorian artisans (colors may slightly vary).
